It's going to be quite lengthy with the story and illustrations but no so long that the children will get bored. I flipped it open and read the whole thing sitting on the floor at my father's house. From then on out, I read every single one of those books in a single day. I can remember seeing the sun come up as I was finishing up the Goblet of Fire that I had gotten from my grandfather the previous evening. I think I must've read each of the first 4 books somewhere in the neighborhood of 15+ times. The movies never really did it for me, though. They always felt like the greatest hits versions of the book. Faithful, but lacking magic.

It's books like these that I wish I could erase my memory so I could experience it all again for the first time. I miss Harry Potter. :(Nathan Hipplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10556062786370838294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2030392296457396216.post-39709086915130135422011-08-21T01:43:41.406-04:002011-08-21T01:43:41.406-04:00I was thinking about this recently as I was doing ...I was thinking about this recently as I was doing my annual sifting through my picture book collection. I added summer finds and I also took out books that are too tattered, or passed on books to others that just do not fit our model mentor texts needs. However, I rejoiced in keeping some of my particular titles which I like to incorporate into lessons that honor the dialect of the characters. I'm also reading the adult book The Help, which is currently being shown as a screen adaptation at movie theaters. Speaking in one's dialect honors their heritage and roots. The story wouldn't feel authentic. The dialect that was coming from inside the reflective thoughts and feelings of the women is what make that story so honest and real. Fantastic project ladies! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2030392296457396216.post-76754545850544626032011-08-13T01:09:39.520-04:002011-08-13T01:09:39.520-04:00I have 'Queen of the Falls' in my to-read ...I have 'Queen of the Falls' in my to-read pile.
