Dr. Michael McKenna brought my attention to this debate broadcast on C-Span last September. Mark Bauerlein and Neil Howe debated "The Millennials: The Dumbest Generation or the Next Great Generation?" They talked about the Millennial Generation and how it ranks compared to other generations. The two authors, who have opposing books on the subject, also talked about the influence of different technologies on the learning habits of those born between 1980 and 2000. Following their presentations, they responded to questions from the audience. Frederick Hess moderated.
Mark Bauerlein is the author of The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future (Tarcher, 2008). Neil Howe is the author of Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation (Vintage Books, 2000).
